Non-metastatic Osteogenic Sarcoma in right distal femur

Non-metastatic Osteogenic Sarcoma in right distal femur A 27 year old patient walked into the hospital with a history of pain in the right knee. After evaluation, the patient has been diagnosed with non metastatic Osteogenic Sarcoma in right distal femur. After discussion with team in Tumor Board we had advised a treatment of Neo adjuvant chemotherapy for 3 cycles and surgery followed by post operative chemotherapy. Dr. Kishore B Reddy have performed a wide excision of distal femur and reconstructed with mega prosthesis. The patient had undergone 6 chemotherapy cycles post op.

Diagnosis:

The duration of symptoms preceding a definitive diagnosis of osteosarcoma is quite long. Pathological radiological signs are often evident by the time of diagnosis. Although several case reports have been published on osteosarcoma of the femur, to the best of our knowledge this report is the first one with such an unusual clinical course.
